Overview of the first edition

Making a difference for 50,000 young people
In May 2013, National Bank set up One for Youth regional committees as part of its One for Youth program. These committees were asked to select youth projects that would share $1 million.

In September, the 12 regional One for Youth regional committees took on the difficult task of selecting recipients from among the over 1,600 applications received across Canada.

The committees selected 104 organizations, which will share $1 million to implement inspiring youth initiatives. The regional committees were impressed with the diversity, relevance and creativity of the projects they received.

The committees selected a wide variety of projects: stay-in-school programs, food banks, healthy lifestyle initiatives, literature and music programs, community gardens, entrepreneurship programs and help for students with learning disabilities. All of these initiatives share the common goal of supporting young people and investing in their future.

About the One for Youth committees
The Bank will be counting on its 12 One for Youth regional committees, each one comprised of local Bank executives and key members of the community, including one young person under 25, to select the local and regional youth initiatives.

The committees, which cover regions from coast to coast, are responsible for selecting the local and regional youth initiatives that will receive financial support based on the orientations, selection and eligibility criteria of the One for Youth program. The committees meet once a year.
